Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by Wendy Mass was an eye-opening read that I would definitely recommend to seventh and eighth graders. In this book, Jeremy Fink, who rarely leaves the neighborhood and is an extremely picky eater, will go on the adventure of a lifetime to unravel one of life’s greatest mysteries. Accompanied by his best friend, Lizzy, the two set out on a quest to find four keys that open a mysterious wooden box from Jeremy’s late father. The problem is, they have a deadline. They must open the box before Jeremy’s turns thirteen, which gives them only a month to open it. And apparently, this box contains the meaning of life. As they try to retrieve the keys, they meet interesting people and learn things that they wouldn’t have learned otherwise. This book was great because it got me thinking and it showed that sometimes, things are not always as they seem. If you want to experience the adventure, read this book!
