Hunger Games book cover imageKatniss Everdeen and her family live on Panem, or what used to be known as North America.  Her district of Panem, District 12, struggles to survive because food, water, and money is scarce.  Every year, the Capitol of Panem hosts the “Hunger Games” a game in which a boy and girl from each of the 12 districts competes for survival in an arena, fighting each other to the death.  Only one child wins each year, unless Katniss has anything to do about it.  Katniss’s sister, Prim gets chosen to be a “tribute” in the Hunger Games, but Katniss takes her place.  So, Katniss goes into the Hunger Games with her other District 12 teammate, Peeta.  Her and Peeta bond over the corse of the games, and Katniss ends up having to make a decision: whether to kill Peeta and hopefully return to her family, or do the unthinkable and defy the Capitol.  If she kills Peeta, there’s still a good chance that she, too could die.  But if she makes a choice to defy the Capitol to get what she wants, the Capitol will insure that Katniss and her family’s life is unbearbable.

I really enjoyed this book  because it was action packed, and I literally couldn’t put it down.  Every page is filled with suspense and I waited with bated breath to see what would happen next.  I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read, even though it was pretty easy.  It’s a book perfect to chill outside with, and soak in the summer sun.  I really love this book, even though I was content on not reading it.  If you don’t think you want to give it a try, please just attempt it!  It’s really much, much better than anyone could possibly describe it.
