Chinese Cinderella and the Secret Dragon Society, by Adeline Yen Mah [J Fiction]

Reviewed by Amanda, age 11

In this book, by Adeline Yen Mah, a young girl, CC, must deal with many challenges, such as her mother dying, her dad dating, and being thrown out of the house at age 12. On her way to her aunt’s house one day, she sees four boys performing in the park. At the end of the performance, one of the boys comes around for money. She realizes she doesn’t have any money and looks down at her feet. The boy talks to her for a minute and then gives her the address of their studio. After being thrown out of the house, she thinks about going to her aunt’s house, but realizes her aunt is taking care of her godmother with a broken leg. She remembers the card from the boys and decides to go to the studio. From the boys, she learns kung fu and how to be part of their secret dragon society.

I thought CC was brave, caring, and adventurous.

This book has action, adventure, heart, and lots of challenges, but you’ll have to read it to find out the rest!
