Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko is about a character named Moose (Matthew) Flanagan when he unwillingly leaves his home and moves to an Alcatraz Island so his sister Natalie can attend a special school in San Fransico. Moose has to leave his friends at his old house and just like any other story where the character moves away from his friends and school and such he learns to adjust to it, but not easily. This isn’t like those other stories, it has it’s own unique way of relating to kids that are going through situations that are similar or kids that just want a good read. Moose soon will learn that not every thing in life will go exactly how you plan for or expect it to happen. Moose finds friends that have common interests, but some of those friends do things that Moose does not always agree with. Which proves this quote from the book as true –    ‘Good Moose. Obedient Moose. I always do what I’m supposed to do.’
